Ever wondered what would happen if you sliced a large cinnamon roll crosswise into three pieces, dipped them in egg and milk, then grilled them? Here you go. This almost embarrassingly indulgent concoction is served with a small cup of lily-gilding white frosting, as well as butter and syrup.

Chicago Magazine - Best French Toast in Chicago

I have been hearing about this place from my girlfriend for a long time now, so this morning we decided to try it. When we were walking up to the front door we look down and see a sticker that says "People on Yelp Love Us!" The inside of the restaurant is very charming. Nice booths, tables, and even a fire place! The restaurant is a good size inside.

For breakfast I was torn between the steak and portabella nest or the Italian nest. Eventually I couldn't resist the steak and portabella nest with a side of pancakes. After a very short time (less than 15 min) the food came out. Laying on my plate was an omelet with mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, and gooey cheese covered by a layer of crispy hash browns. Next to the nest was a skirt steak. And finally a plate with 2 pancakes. First of all the steak was very tender and moist, just to my liking. I liked to mix the omelet with the hash browns and finally with the steak. The pancakes were also very good. All together the food was amazing!

I cannot wait to come back here many many times!

I don't know why you WOULDN'T give Katie's Kitchen a 5 star review!!

The food is always really great, the price is right, and the portions are large and in charge. The breakfast specials menu is fabulous; I almost always order one of their new creations. And for sure, if you come for lunch or dinner, GET A SOUP WITH YOUR MEAL. The soups are always to die for.

Sundays can be busy but the waiting time is almost never as long as they tell you. Friday nights are fun and BYOB... hardly anyone has BYOB in the burbs, so i'm glad they jumped on that train. Also, if you come on a friday night, get the coconut shrimp. Crazy good.

I like being seated and finding out that Katie, herself, is actually going to be the server at my table. It's cool to see a business owner who actually works hard and helps with all the jobs, not just behind the scenes kind of stuff.

Since opening in 2009, Katie's Kitchen has gained a reputation as a delicious eatery, with outstanding service and a scrumptious menu that is sure to please everyone.

Their breakfast, brunch and lunch menus offer a variety of fare from breakfast burritos, German pancakes, French toast, crepes and assorted omelettes to chicken salad stuffed pineapples and seared scallop and shrimp salads to BLT's, Sloppy Joe's, brisket and steak sandwiches.

The entire menu is reasonably priced with items ranging from $4 - $10 and is also available for carry-out.

Home of some of the most famous breakfast in Des Plaines, Katie's Kitchen has been satisfying appetites for more than two years. With free Wi-Fi, a fireplace for the cold months, and outdoor seating for the warm ones, patrons may nearly forget about the extensive breakfast and lunch menu. Give yourself ample time to choose from among eggs (served any way you can imagine),

Belgian waffles, French toast, salads, paninis, sandwiches, and burgers. Chicago Magazine was thrilled by Katie's delicious Cinnamon Swirl French Toast, and the staff raves about the chef's special Potato Nest - an omelette with bacon, onions and cheddar-jack cheese and surrounded by hash browns. Katie's Kitchen also caters.
